Happy Birthday Salma Lucia!

My baby girl turned four this past Friday, I can't believe how fast time is flying. Next week will be her birthday party, she is having an all girls tea party at Lilly Pulitzer (yes the clothing store, they do little girls tea parties, super cute). I will post pictures when her party happens!

Two in one...

Last week we took our kids to Sesame Place, they LOVED it. One of my dear friends just moved into a new home 40 minutes away so we went to visit afterwards and had a sleepover. Down the road was a Wegmans Supermarket and anyone that knows Wegmans knows its the bomb digity! I was like a kid in a candy store, I hadn't been in one since college. A new craze that I stumbled upon was Pillow Pets, its a pillow and a pet, genius! Jack and Salma love them and sleep with them every night. I must admit they are pretty cute.

Look I Love...

I just received my fall J.CREW catalogue and it's smashing! I love all their looks and how they put them together, this zip vest is my favorite! They don't just stop there, the kids line is ADORABLE, CREW CUTS has everything your little one needs to rock the playground. Feels like I'm falling for fall.

Ch-ch-ch-check it...

So one of my favorito blogs madebygirl gave me a shout out on her blog to say thanks for blogging about her! To that I say "no, thank you'!

"Hoo Hoo..."

Another awesome accessory from Rachel Roy, the Owl Ring. My twin went to a wedding this past weekend and here she is with one of our best friends Punit (brother of the Groom) rocking the Owl Ring. Once again the entire Rachel Rachel Roy collection sizzles, that girl keeps doing it and doing it and doing it right!

I love New York...

Last week I took the kids to the American Museum of Natural History. I heart these kind of field trips, what better playground than NYC, you have everything right outside your door. Before I had children I worked in this city for over ten years and you take for granted all the culture and beauty at you fingertips! The best part, they have a Magnolia Bakery in Grand Central Station so the ride home was SWEET!

Bedtime...

I love the idea of a built in bed! My cousin Gina told me I should do this for my daughters room, it's kinda on the small side and one of her walls is where the roof of the house slopes down and below the slope is a built in bookcase. I'd like to widen up that nook and make it her bed, how cute would that be!

Quick Conversation with...

Happy Monday kiddies, today I bring to you a new element to my blog, a fun quick conversation with a pretty cool gal! Welcome to my blog Catherine Fitzsimmons, founder and designer of Rikshaw Design. I heart everything she makes, from her woman's kurtas to her children's bedding, the patterns are just so charming and the flexibility to mix and match make for a beautiful look. Catherine did me the honor of answering a few of my questions and what a good sport she was, here we go...

Q. One beauty product you can't live without?

Q. What is your absolute favorite thing that you've designed?

A. The women's tuxedo kurta and the baby sack, its too precious!

Q. The ice cream truck rolls up in your hood, what do you get?

A. Vanilla bean with caramel..yumm!

Q. Favorite city you've been too?

A. New York, love love to visit that city!

Q. Brad and Angelina move in next door, how do you welcome them to the neighborhood?

A. Invite them over for a BBQ and let the kids play with my dog jumby..southern style..

Q. When did you know you wanted to start your own business ?

A. I have always wanted to own a little store..but the business that I have started came about once I knew I was done with the corporate job I had.

Q. Ice tea or lemonade?

A. Ice tea..made in the sun!

Thank you to Catherine for being the first Quick conversation, love getting to know you! I think you are an amazing inspiration to talented woman everywhere. Keep the creativity flowing, you rock! Next time you're in New York City, let me know, I'll take you out for some tasty ice tea!

The latest...

My son jack since he was born always exhibited very specific interests, some would say OCD, I like to say passionate. When he discovers something new it's all he concentrates on until he is satisfied that he's learned all he needs to know on that subject. Jack started reading and writing when he was three, and he is completely self taught (I wish I could take credit). He would fill writing pads up with whatever he was into at the time (I would say in the last three years he has filled up hundreds of notebooks). His latest craze are car logos, here he is at work!

One word...

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! This is the only word I can use to describe my mom. Not only does she bend over backwards to always help me but she is so talented and makes the most awesome things for my kids to wear. I saw this skirt in an upscale store but the price tag $$$ was too much for me, so I described it to my mom and presto here it is for my daughter Salma's birthday, can't wait to get her in it, she made the headband too!

Beauty junky...

I LOVE beauty products and the irony being I never get to use them. My twin sister gave me a gift card to Drugstore.com and I went to town! Today my order arrived, I opened the package, poured everything out onto the floor and just looked at it. First I opened up my eos lip balm, I got a few, vanilla and honeysuckle, yummy and look how cute their shapes are! The big tube of body butter comes from Bliss, the scent is lemon and sage and this will be for my nightly routine of moisturizing. If ever I have a reason to go out and do my makeup I have a new eyeliner from NARS in a smokey grey, the color is called London. Along with the eyeliner I chose an eye shadow palette from Stila called The It Girl, we'll see about that. Super excited to use this stuff and just for ordering they let you choose your own samples, so I picked a facial scrub from Philosophy, a purse spray of Donna Karen's Cashmere Mist and a Bliss lotion. Love getting treats! Thanks sister!

Light it up...

I love chandeliers, I think they add a classic touch to any room. When I re-do my half bath downstairs I'm thinking about an all white stark bathroom with this funky chandelier, comes from Urban Outfitters. My sister in-law Lindsay is re-doing a bathroom in her home and also wants to do a chandelier but the hubby isn't too keen on that idea. Lindsay, sometimes the little they know the better, just order it and tell the hubby it was final sale!

Saying too much?

Super model Gisele Bundchen will grace the cover of the September UK Edition of Harpers Bazaar, girlfriends got it going on especially since she just had a baby (my youngest is turning four and I'm still battling the bulge). According to the article Gisele thinks it should be a world wide law that infants should be breastfed for the first six months of their lives. I'm all for breastfeeding, I did it with my children the first year of their lives and it wasn't easy, the first six to eight weeks is tough, blisters and bleeding, good times! But doesn't she have a publicist to filter what she says? As a mother you have to do what works for both you and baby and although I do promote breastfeeding not everyone can do it. Its not fair when someone like Gisele, who's life looks so perfect makes such comments, she just comes across as arrogant and insensitive. What do you think?

Sitting in style...

I am craving this chair! LOVE the modern yet traditional look of it, but not so in love with the price? This Philippe Starck Louis Ghost armchair has a hefty price tag of $410. Does anyone out there know of a cheaper alternative?
